Mr Anurag Thakur has raised numerous issues in the Lok Sabha related to his constituency Hamirpur and Himachal Pradesh. These include the issue of introduction of new trains and extension of rail links to Himachal, One Rank One Pension for ex-servicemen, setting up of premier technical institutes & a central university, the extension/maintenance of national highways in the state and the need for a National Board for the Development of Himalyan States.
Mr Thakur has been instrumental in facilitating various approval / sanctions for significant projects across sectors such as Railways, Roads & National Highways, Education, Medical facilities, etc.
A Training Academy for the youth is also in the pipeline that will facilitate their educational, skill building and professional training needs.
During the financial year 2013-14 a total of 493 developmental projects were sanctioned, which is higher than the last year’s total of 436 projects that were successfully undertaken. During the period 2009-14 district Hamirpur received Rs 5,69,62,402 , Una received Rs 5,29,08,234 , Bilaspur received Rs 4,65,51,268, Kangra received Rs 2,45,49,408 and Mandi received Rs 1,45,70,000. The total MPLADS Fund (including interest) spent was Rs 19,55,41,312.
Mr Thakur has focused on fulfilling local community needs through the MPLADS fund and constructed community centres, mahila mandal bhavans, yuvak mandal bhawan, sarais, shamshan ghats, path/link roads, solar lighting and playgrounds to my people. He has also helped individuals find employment by holding job fairs in the constituency and continue to facilitate them outside the state through various organizations. He has also focused on sports and educational facilities by building District-HQ level stadiums at Amtar (Hamirpur), Bilaspur, Una, Pragati Nagar (Shimla), Laal Pani (Shimla) as well as opening of universities, medical colleges and engineering institutes. He has strongly pursued the introduction of new trains, namely the Nanded Sahib Express, Haridwar Express, Janshatabdi and Himachal Express. Through his efforts the extension of the Nangal-Una-Talwara Rail line upto Amb-Indora was also made possible.
There has been uniformity in the allocation of MPLADS funds, which have been made keeping in view local demands and the number of assembly segments in each district. Projects have been sanctioned through the MPLADS primarily based on requests made by the people in the constituency.
Mr Thakur spends 25 days a month travelling of which a major part is spent in his constituency, he has visited nearly every Panchayat till now. He regularly travels by bus and train to Himachal and remains accessible on phone, mail and social media.
